Henry Croasdill

From Linen-Draper in Georgian Canterbury to Lord of the Manor of Thanington

CHAS is very grateful to Chris Tucker for sharing his research in to the life and times of Henry Croasdill who started in Canterbury at the CHEAP SHOP (Plume of Feathers) near the Westgate Towers, and went on to bigger and better things. If you are interested in the history of linen or drapery or the Westgate area of Canterbury in the late 18th Century, or have an interest in the Croasdill and Gurney families, please do read the article. Chris follows members of the wider family to Australia and New Zealand and back. Perhaps the duck-billed platypus currently on display in the cabinet of curiosities of the Beaney has links to this family. To read the article please click here.
