Reculver Columns (in crypt)

The two large stone columns on the south side of the eastern crypt originally stood in the Saxon church (built 670 AD) on the North Kent coast at Reculver.  They supported the three arches which divided the apse from the nave.  They were found in fragments and brought into the cathedral for safe keeping.
